Love the idea of mountain biking but the climbs make you hesitant? An ebike tour in Medellín allows you to explore our trails on two wheels without the fitness required for our Arví park trail tour .
Arví Park covers 16,000 hectares on the ridges east of the city, 1,760 of them natural cloud forest, laced with singletrack and linked by gravel roads. On a regular mountain bike, the climbing is the price you pay for the descending. On a Specialized Turbo Levo, it isn’t.
Plenty of battery, not much fitness required
Here’s what changes when you ride here on an e-bike: your limit stops being your legs and becomes your battery.
That changes the day completely. We ride further: 10 km if you want a short one, up to 60 km if you don’t. We ride more trails, six or more in a session, including terrain that’s too steep to reach on a hardtail.
Your guide watches every bike’s charge throughout the ride and plans the route around it. Manage your assist mode sensibly and you’ll go a long way. Sit in Turbo all day and you won’t.
What you’ll ride through
Cloud forest with 80 species of birds and more than 540 species of plants, orchids and bromeliads growing on the trees above you. Creeks with swimming spots. Wild berries you can pick off the trail in harvest season. Small cafés and family restaurants scattered through the park, which we stop at, because stopping is part of it.
The pace on an e-bike is faster than on a hardtail, and so is the ground you cover. What you don’t do is suffer for it.
Who this works for
This is the tour to book when your group isn’t all the same rider. Fit and unfit, experienced and rusty, the one who rides every weekend and the one who hasn’t been on a bike since school: an e-bike flattens those differences out. Nobody gets dropped on a climb.
