Description

Love the idea of mountain biking but the climbs make you hesitant? An ebike tour in Medellín allows you to explore our trails on two wheels without the fitness required for our Arví park trail tour .

Arví Park covers 16,000 hectares on the ridges east of the city, 1,760 of them natural cloud forest, laced with singletrack and linked by gravel roads. On a regular mountain bike, the climbing is the price you pay for the descending. On a Specialized Turbo Levo, it isn’t.

Plenty of battery, not much fitness required

Here’s what changes when you ride here on an e-bike: your limit stops being your legs and becomes your battery.

That changes the day completely. We ride further: 10 km if you want a short one, up to 60 km if you don’t. We ride more trails, six or more in a session, including terrain that’s too steep to reach on a hardtail.

Your guide watches every bike’s charge throughout the ride and plans the route around it. Manage your assist mode sensibly and you’ll go a long way. Sit in Turbo all day and you won’t.

What you’ll ride through

Cloud forest with 80 species of birds and more than 540 species of plants, orchids and bromeliads growing on the trees above you. Creeks with swimming spots. Wild berries you can pick off the trail in harvest season. Small cafés and family restaurants scattered through the park, which we stop at, because stopping is part of it.

The pace on an e-bike is faster than on a hardtail, and so is the ground you cover. What you don’t do is suffer for it.

Who this works for

This is the tour to book when your group isn’t all the same rider. Fit and unfit, experienced and rusty, the one who rides every weekend and the one who hasn’t been on a bike since school: an e-bike flattens those differences out. Nobody gets dropped on a climb.

Travel Itinerary

8:30 - Meet at the e-bike base

Itinerary Image

We meet at our e-bike location in Arví — reachable by ride-hailing app from the city. (Note: this is a different meeting point from our hardtail tour. We'll send exact directions with your booking confirmation.)

8:45 - Bike setup and Levo briefing

We size you on a Turbo Levo, set your saddle and dropper, and walk you through the assist modes. No prior e-bike experience needed; five minutes and it makes sense.

9:00 - First trails

We start on the main trail network so we can see how everyone rides, and set the day's route from there.

11:00 - Go deeper

This is where the e-bike earns its keep. We climb into parts of the park most riders never see, and link trails a hardtail day couldn't reach.

12:00 - Coffee, creeks and berries

We stop. A café, a swimming hole, berries off the trail in season. The battery is watching the clock, not us.

14:00 - Back to base

Somewhere between four and six hours after we started, depending on your battery, your legs and your plans for the rest of the day.

15:00 - A shared local meal

Add a meal to your booking and we finish around a table.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is This Ride For You?

Almost certainly, and that's the point of it. Turbo Levos are pedal-assisted, not throttled. You still turn the cranks and you still balance the bike. What disappears is the suffering on the climbs. The tour runs between 2,340 m (7,677 ft) and 2,680 m (8,792 ft), where altitude makes ordinary climbing hard, and the motor takes that away. You don't need e-bike experience. You do need reasonable balance and to be comfortable on a bike saddle for a few hours.

Can I do this if I'm not really a cyclist?

Often, yes. If someone in your group hasn't ridden in years, we shift the route toward gravel roads and mellower trails, and everyone still has a good day.

One honest condition: it has to be a group decision. We won't put an experienced rider and a nervous beginner who don't know each other in the same group; that day goes badly for both of them. If you're booking as a couple, a family or a group of friends and you're happy to ride at the pace of your least confident rider, tell us and we'll build the day around that. If you're booking solo and you're new to this, tell us that too.

Will the bike fit me?

Sizes S2 (S), S3 (M) and S4 (L), fitting riders from 1.50 m to 1.95 m, up to 125 kg. Taller riders: book at least four days ahead and we can fit 200 mm droppers. If you're a group with several tall riders, four days' notice matters, so tell us heights when you book.

What happens if my battery runs out?

It shouldn't. Your guide monitors every bike's charge throughout the ride and plans the route around what's left; that's the main job on an e-bike day. Ride in the highest assist mode constantly and you'll cut your range dramatically; ride sensibly and 60 km is realistic. We don't carry spare batteries. We do carry a tow rope, and your guide can tow a rider home if it comes to that. In eight years it has rarely come to that.

How does this compare to your other tours?

Less physically demanding than our hardtail trail tour in the same park, and much better suited to groups with mixed fitness. Less extreme than our downhill tour in Santa Bárbara. But if your group has the skills for downhill and not the eight hours it takes, note that Arví has downhill trails you can ride on an e-bike too. Tell us what you're after.

What about rain?

It's a cloud forest, so it happens. Usually we wait for it to pass before setting off. If it starts while we're riding, we take shelter in one of the park's cafés, or shift toward gravel where the trails get slick.

How many of us can ride together?

Up to seven, depending on heights — the fleet has a finite number of frames in each size. Groups of four or more, or groups with several tall riders, should book at least four days in advance so we can guarantee bikes that fit everyone.

Tour Terms & Conditions

Booking and payment. Pay 10% to reserve your spot. The balance is payable after the tour, in Colombian pesos (cash) or by card. You can also pay in full at checkout if you prefer.

Cancellations. The 10% deposit is non-refundable. If you paid in full and cancel at least 48 hours before the tour, we refund 90% of the total, less banking fees.

Advance notice. Groups of four or more, groups with riders over 1.90 m, and anyone needing a 200 mm dropper should book at least four days ahead so we can guarantee a correctly sized bike for everyone.

Your voucher. After booking you'll receive an email with a QR-code voucher. Bring it on your phone; we scan it on arrival.

Rider requirements. Riders must be between 1.50 m and 1.95 m tall and under 125 kg to fit our e-bikes safely. Helmets are mandatory and included. Age is not a barrier — height is; younger riders are welcome when accompanied by a parent.

Mixed-ability groups. We build the route around your group's least confident rider, by agreement with the whole group. Please tell us honestly about riding ability when you book.

Meeting point. Our e-bike base is a different location from our hardtail tour. Exact directions are sent with your booking confirmation. Riders make their own way there — a ride-hailing app is the simplest option.
